Novel Method for Monitoring RNAi Activity in Blood Samples
Our scientists discovered a new method for monitoring RNAi activity in blood samples. The results were presented at the Keystone Gene Silencing by small RNAs symposium (Vancouver, February 7-12). This new method, circulating extracellular RNA detection (cERD), allows quantitative measurement of tissue-specific mRNA silencing from biological fluids including blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

Illustrating our VaxiRNA Platform
In early November, we launched our VaxiRNA™ platform as a result of research performed by our Alnylam Biotherapeutics team. VaxiRNA uses siRNA to silence specific genes that limit or prevent effective growth of viruses in vaccine manufacturing systems, including those in cell culture and also in chicken eggs.

New Alnylam Papers on Systemic Delivery of RNAi Therapeutics
We published two peer-reviewed papers in top-tier journals documenting the systemic delivery of RNAi therapeutics to certain immune and inflammatory cells. The findings from these studies provide us with the opportunity to explore RNAi therapeutic approaches to silence genes involved in inflammatory, autoimmune, and cardiovascular diseases, as well as certain cancers.
